Nous les Tchadiens et amis du Tchad avons appris le décès tragique du Maréchal du Tchad, le Président Idriss Itno Déby le 20 Avril 2021. Nous transmettons nos sincères condoléances à sa famille.

Nous nous insurgeons contre le coup d’État constitutionnel en cours au Tchad et orchestré par le Conseil Militaire de Transition (C.M.T.). Cet acte barbare qui bafoue la loi fondamentale du Tchad et prive le peuple de mettre en branle les mécanismes constitutionnels qu’il s’est attribué pour son bien-être.

Nous ne reconnaissons point la légitimité du Conseil Militaire de Transition.

Par cette même voix, nous dénonçons l’ingérence de la France dans les affaires internes du Tchad, ainsi que sa présence militaire. Nous condamnons l’attitude complice de la France qui a juste pris acte du fait du coup d’État et son soutien tacite au Conseil Militaire de Transition (CMT).

Nous exhortons le président en exercice de l’Union Africaine (UA), de condamner fermement cette prise de pouvoir inconstitutionnelle par le Conseil militaire de transition (CMT) et appelé au respect de l’ordre constitutionnel au Tchad ; car ce changement anticonstitutionnel est une violation grave des dispositions pertinentes de la charte de l’union africaine. En outre, nous demandons au président de l’UA d’imposer les mesures qui s’imposent considérant que M. Moussa Faki, est en conflit d’intérêts évident par rapport à la situation actuelle au Tchad. Rappelons que M. Faki a immédiatement et fermement condamné lorsque les militaires maliens et des militaires nigériens ont tenté d’opérer des changements anticonstitutionnels respectivement au Mali et au Niger. Dans le cas du Tchad non seulement M, Faki n’a pas non seulement condamné, mais il a été reçu au palais présidentiel de N’Djaména par Mahamat Idriss Déby, le 20 avril 2021.

Nous appelons les Nations-Unies et toute la communauté internationale à condamner ce coup d’État et à faire pression sur les putschistes afin de rétablir l’ordre constitutionnel et organiser un dialogue avec tous les acteurs politiques qui aboutira à une élection présidentielle transparente et démocratique.

Nous invitons le CMT à quitter le pouvoir et à laisser aux élus du peuple la responsabilité d’assurer la vacance du pouvoir et organiser de nouvelles élections.

Nous invitons la société civile à rester mobilisée et à faire pression sur la junte militaire afin qu’elle remette le pouvoir à qui de droit pour assurer la transition.

Nous partageons les peines du peuple tchadien et nous vous rassurons de notre solidarité.

We Chadians and friends of Chad have learned of the tragic death of the Marshal of Chad,

President Idriss Itno Déby on April 20, 2021. We send our sincere condolences to his family and friends.

We are protesting against the constitutional coup d’état orchestrated by the Military Transition Council (C.M.T.), which has dissolved both the legislative and executive branches of the Government of Chad.  This coup undermines the fundamental law of Chad and prevents the Chadian people from setting in motion their constitutional mechanisms that predict and deal with such circumstances.

The C.M.T is both unconstitutional and illegitimate.

With the same voice, we denounce France’s interference in Chad’s internal affairs, as well as its military presence in our country and its complicit attitude with and support of the military junta, the Military Transition Committee (CMT).

Since this unconstitutional change is a serious violation of the relevant provisions of the Charter of the African Union, we urge the incumbent President of the African Union (AU) to strongly condemn this military coup and call for the respect of the Chadian constitutional order.

In addition, we call on the President of the AU, Mr. Moussa Faki, to impose the necessary measures, as he did recently with the attempted unconstitutional change in Mali and Niger.

As we condemn Mr. Faki’s failure to denounce the military coup, we disapprove of his visit to the chief of the military junta Mahamat Idriss Déby at the Presidential Palace in N’Djaména on April 20, 2021.

We consider Mr. Faki’s visit to the presidential palace an attempt to legitimize both the military junta and the coup against the will of the Chadian people.

We call on the United Nations and the international community to condemn this coup d’état and pressure the military junta to restore the Chadian constitutional order and organize an all-inclusive dialogue that will lead to a transparent and democratic presidential election.

We call on the CMT to step down and hand over to the elected representatives of the people the responsibility of managing the vacancy of power and organizing new elections.

We call on the Chadian civil society to remain mobilized and pressure the military junta until the latter reinstate the parliament and let it to manage the transition.

We are in solidarity with the Chadian people and share its sorrows.
